My Roles and Responsibilities

Doug liaises with Naomi the content leader in the strategic planning phase. He is responsible for building the structured, componentized content models and document types to be used by content writers as their authoring templates, which he creates using Sofía’s designs.

He has a deep understanding of structured XML-based schemas such as Quark Smart Content and DITA and ensures that content adheres to the universal taxonomies, is accurately tagged with metadata and that data input sources from the wider content ecosystem are actively operational and verified for compliance.

Consequences Of Doing Nothing

Doug would struggle to implement the global content strategy without taking a structured content approach, as he would not be able to expand into new locations or reuse key content globally. The translation challenges would simply be too difficult to execute on. And without a centralized platform, integrating processes with the ever-increasing number of data sources would be virtually impossible.

Content governance issues would also present production manager Jim with a content operations workflow wrought with error and manual processes, exposing the enterprise to risk of regulatory compliance failure and legal repercussion.
